PATTISTRONG FOUNDATION
Mission statement:
To provide funding, training and support globally for women to achieve entrepreneurial success, and to do so in ways that encourage the development of both enduring enterprises and strong families.
My friend and fellow jewelry artist, Patti Hardy, was diagnosed with aggressive brain cancer in the summer of 2010. She has been fighting with all her strength through surgery, radiation, and chemotherapy to beat the glioblastoma. Her family has set up this foundation in her honor.
Patti asked me to collaborate in creating a charm as a fundraiser for the foundation. She chose the Chinese symbol of strength for one side ("the four boxes feel like the corners of my family with my boys - providing an amazingly strong link together") and the word PattiStrong on the reverse (a reminder to remain strong throughout the fight).
I am proud to be part of this effort, and consider myself lucky indeed to know, and be Patti's friend.
100% of the profits from the sale of the charms will be donated by Bodil Lund to benefit a foundation established to promote Patti's vision to enhance women's entrepreneurship.
